Lotgenootje Dreams
Article 1 – General
1.1 The promotion "Lotgenootje Dreams" is organised by Lotgenootje B.V., with its registered office at De Geer 2, 4233 HX Ameide, the Netherlands, registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 96922125, hereinafter referred to as: "Lotgenootje".
1.2 By taking part in Lotgenootje Dreams, the participant declares that they have read and agree to these promotion terms.
1.3 Lotgenootje Dreams is a prize competition in which participants can submit a dream for another person, accompanied by a motivation written by the participant themselves. The participant competes solely on the content and quality of that entry.
1.4 From all valid entries, a jury appointed by Lotgenootje selects one dream on the basis of predefined, content-based assessment criteria (Article 9 and Appendix A).
1.5 The selection expressly does not take place by means of a draw, random selection or any other form of chance, at any stage of the promotion. The content and assessment of the entry determine the selection. By the content and quality of their entry, participants can exert a decisive influence on the outcome.
1.6 Lotgenootje Dreams is therefore a prize competition and not a game of chance within the meaning of Article 1 of the Dutch Gambling Act (Wet op de kansspelen). The Code of Conduct for Promotional Games of Chance (Gedragscode promotionele kansspelen) does not apply and no gambling tax is payable on the dream.
1.7 These promotion terms, including the assessment framework in Appendix A, were established before the start of the promotion period and can be consulted free of charge during the promotion period at [URL]. They will not be amended after the start of the promotion period, subject to the provisions of Article 18.
Article 2 – Promotion period
2.1 The promotion runs from 6 November 2026 up to and including 27 December 2026.
2.2 Only purchases and entries made within this period can be included in the promotion.
2.3 The selected dream is expected to be announced on 29 December 2026.
2.4 Lotgenootje reserves the right to change the announcement date due to organisational or other compelling circumstances.
2.5 Entries received by Lotgenootje after 27 December 2026, 23:59 (Dutch time) will not be processed. The time of receipt in Lotgenootje's systems is decisive.
Article 3 – Who can take part?
3.1 Participation is open to natural persons aged 18 or over who reside in the Netherlands, Belgium or Germany.
3.2 Employees of Lotgenootje B.V., persons directly involved in the organisation or assessment of the promotion and members of the jury, as well as their partners and family members in the first and second degree, are excluded from participation.
3.3 Participation is personal and cannot be transferred.
3.4 Each person can make a maximum of one valid entry during the entire promotion period, regardless of the number of orders placed.
Article 4 – Conditions of participation
4.1 To take part validly in Lotgenootje Dreams, the participant must, during the promotion period:
a. place an order with Lotgenootje that meets the applicable promotional offer;
b. choose, within this order, the offer of two Lotgenootje plush toys plus a free mini or item of clothing;
c. after the order, fully complete the participation form via the email, link or promotion page provided for this purpose;
d. submit a dream for another person, with a motivation written by the participant themselves that meets Article 5;
e. agree to these promotion terms.
4.2 Within the offer communicated during the promotion, the customer who purchases two participating plush toys receives 50% off the second plush toy and a free mini or item of clothing, to the extent and for as long as this offer is available and in accordance with the promotion terms communicated at that time.
4.3 All Lotgenootje plush toys that qualify for the promotional offer during the promotion period count towards the purchase condition.
4.4 A purchase alone does not count as participation. The participation form must be completed and submitted in full and on time. The purchase itself gives no entitlement to, or chance of winning, the dream; only the assessment of the entry is decisive. The number or value of the orders placed plays no role in the assessment.
4.5 A submitted dream without a valid accompanying purchase does not meet the conditions of participation.
4.6 If the order on which participation is based is cancelled or returned in full before the final selection, participation lapses automatically.
4.7 If part of the order is returned so that the promotional offer referred to in Article 4.1 is no longer met, participation likewise lapses.
4.8 Lotgenootje may request proof of purchase and other information to verify that the conditions of participation have been met.
4.9 Lotgenootje may declare an entry invalid in the event of fraud, manipulation, incorrect information, abuse of the promotion or any other breach of these terms.
4.10 The purchase takes place at the regular (promotional) price; no additional costs are charged for taking part in Lotgenootje Dreams. The participant's statutory right of withdrawal is not restricted by these terms; Articles 4.6 and 4.7 solely regulate the effect of a cancellation or return on participation.
Article 5 – The submitted dream
5.1 The participant submits a dream for another person, hereinafter referred to as the "dream recipient".
5.2 The participant must describe truthfully why they want the dream in question to come true for this person.
5.3 The participant must ensure that the information provided does not make an unnecessary or unauthorised intrusion on the privacy of the dream recipient or other persons.
5.4 After the selection, Lotgenootje may request additional information and supporting documents to verify the story and the feasibility of the dream.
5.5 The participant guarantees that the information submitted is, as far as reasonably possible, correct and not deliberately misleading.
5.6 The entry consists of a motivation written by the participant themselves of at least 100 and at most 750 words, supplemented by a short description of the dream. Entries that do not meet these requirements are invalid and will not be submitted to the jury.
5.7 By submitting an entry, the participant grants Lotgenootje the right to use the entry for the assessment, verification and organisation of the promotion. Any further use takes place solely on the basis of the separate consent referred to in Article 13.
Article 6 – The dream and maximum value
6.1 Lotgenootje selects one dream for realisation.
6.2 The maximum economic value of the entire dream funded by Lotgenootje is €30,000 including VAT.
6.3 The value of the dream is determined on the basis of the costs actually incurred or reasonably to be incurred by Lotgenootje and/or the economic value of the goods and services supplied.
6.4 The dream or any part of it cannot be exchanged for cash, vouchers or any monetary compensation.
6.5 If the chosen dream can be realised for less than €30,000, the selected participant or dream recipient has no claim to the difference.
6.6 The amount of €30,000 is a maximum budget and not a guaranteed minimum value of the realised dream.
6.7 Lotgenootje determines the final practical details of the dream in consultation with the selected participant and dream recipient.
6.8 Costs incurred by Lotgenootje for photo, film and sound recordings, communication, staff and organisation do not form part of the value of the dream as referred to in Article 6.2.
6.9 Because Lotgenootje Dreams is a prize competition and not a game of chance, no gambling tax is payable on the dream in the Netherlands and Lotgenootje does not withhold any tax. Participants and dream recipients who live outside the Netherlands are themselves responsible for any tax obligations in their country of residence.
Article 7 – Feasibility of the dream
7.1 Lotgenootje is not obliged to carry out a submitted dream in whole or in part if, in Lotgenootje's reasonable opinion, carrying it out:
a. is not legally permitted;
b. is unsafe or irresponsible;
c. is not reasonably feasible;
d. costs more than the available maximum budget;
e. depends on third parties who do not wish or are unable to cooperate;
f. proves impossible due to availability, scheduling, travel restrictions, medical circumstances, safety or force majeure;
g. infringes the rights of third parties;
h. conflicts with the mission, reputation or values of Lotgenootje; or
i. cannot reasonably be required of Lotgenootje for any other compelling reason.
7.2 If part of the dream proves not to be feasible, Lotgenootje may, together with the dream recipient, look for a suitable alternative.
7.3 Lotgenootje is not obliged to spend the full maximum budget to make an alternative possible.
Article 8 – Jury
8.1 The valid entries are assessed by a jury of at least three persons appointed by Lotgenootje. The jury is appointed before the start of the promotion period.
8.2 Jury members may not have a direct personal interest in the entries they assess and declare this in writing before the assessment. A jury member who knows a participant or dream recipient personally abstains from assessing that entry.
8.3 Lotgenootje determines the composition of the jury.
8.4 The names of the jury members do not have to be made public in advance.
8.5 The jury assesses valid entries only.
8.6 The jury's decision, together with the scores awarded per criterion and a brief justification, is recorded in writing or digitally and kept by Lotgenootje for at least seven years.
8.7 No correspondence will be entered into about the content-based assessment or decision of the jury, without prejudice to the complaints procedure of Article 19 for complaints about the procedure followed.
8.8 Each jury member first assesses the entries submitted to them individually and independently on the basis of the criteria of Article 9 and the assessment framework in Appendix A. The jury then determines the final assessment in joint deliberation. Lotgenootje provides the entries to the jury without the participant's name, address and order details, insofar as the content of the entry allows.
Article 9 – Assessment criteria
9.1 Each valid entry is assessed on the basis of five predetermined criteria, as further elaborated in the assessment framework in Appendix A, which forms part of these terms.
9.2 The five assessment criteria are:
1. Personal meaning – The extent to which the dream has a special personal meaning for the dream recipient.
2. Positive impact – The extent to which realising the dream is expected to have a meaningful and positive impact on the dream recipient.
3. Fit with Lotgenootje Dreams – The extent to which the story fits Lotgenootje's mission of offering support, connection and meaning during special or vulnerable moments.
4. Strength of the story – The sincerity, distinctiveness and persuasiveness of the submitted story.
5. Feasibility – The extent to which the dream can be realised within a maximum budget of €30,000 and within reasonable organisational, legal, practical and safety limits.
9.3 A maximum of 10 points can be awarded for each criterion in accordance with the scoring rubric in Appendix A.
9.4 An entry can therefore achieve a maximum of 50 points.
9.5 All five criteria carry equal weight in principle.
9.6 The jury records its assessment in accordance with Lotgenootje's jury protocol in Appendix A, which was established before the start of the promotion period.
9.7 The entry with the highest final assessment is selected, subject to the provisions of Articles 9.8, 10 and 11.
9.8 If two or more entries finish level, or if the jury considers on compelling content-based grounds that further assessment is necessary, the jury assesses these entries again on the basis of the same criteria and records its reasons in writing.
9.9 Even in the event of a tied assessment, no draw is used. The jury ultimately makes a final choice on content-based grounds in accordance with Article 9.10.
9.10 If entries are still level after reassessment, the following order of priority applies: the entry with the highest score on criterion 1 (Personal meaning) takes precedence; if still level, then the highest score on criterion 2, then criterion 4, then criterion 3 and finally criterion 5. If there is still a tie, the jury decides by majority vote, solely on content-based grounds, and records those grounds in writing.
9.11 If more than 200 valid entries are received, Lotgenootje may have a preselection carried out by at least two jury members, who each assess every entry independently of one another on the basis of the same criteria and rubric. The entries with the highest preselection scores are submitted to the full jury. The preselection also takes place solely on content, without any form of draw, sampling or random selection.
9.12 Participants cannot derive any rights from the assessment of other entries. Public votes, numbers of likes, comments or shares and the size or value of the order play no role in the assessment.
Article 10 – Announcement and contact
10.1 Lotgenootje intends to approach the selected participant personally on or around 29 December 2026.
10.2 Contact takes place via the contact details provided on participation. Lotgenootje makes at least two demonstrable attempts to make contact via different channels (for example email and telephone).
10.3 The selected participant must respond within 72 hours of Lotgenootje's first demonstrable contact.
10.4 If no response is received within this period, Lotgenootje may let the selection lapse.
10.5 Before final confirmation, Lotgenootje may check whether the participant and entry meet all the promotion terms.
10.6 Selection by the jury only gives a definitive right to the dream being carried out after Lotgenootje has established that all conditions have been met and the necessary agreements and consents have been recorded.
Article 11 – Replacement selection
11.1 The right to the realisation of the dream may lapse if:
a. the selected participant does not respond within 72 hours;
b. the participant proves not to meet the promotion terms;
c. the original order proves to be invalid, cancelled or returned in breach of Article 4;
d. deliberately incorrect or misleading information has been provided;
e. the dream recipient does not wish to cooperate;
f. necessary consents are missing;
g. the participant or dream recipient does not wish to comply with arrangements that are reasonably necessary for the realisation of the dream;
h. after further investigation the dream proves not to be reasonably feasible; or
i. other circumstances arise that make carrying it out reasonably impossible.
11.2 If the original selection lapses, Lotgenootje has the right to have the jury select another valid entry.
11.3 The replacement entry is again selected on the basis of the same assessment criteria, with the entry with the next highest final assessment being eligible.
11.4 No random draw or lottery takes place in a replacement selection either.
Article 12 – Carrying out the dream
12.1 Lotgenootje aims to realise the selected dream within six months of the final announcement.
12.2 This means that the dream will in principle be carried out no later than 29 June 2027.
12.3 If carrying it out within this period is not possible due to the nature of the dream, the availability of third parties, weather conditions, travel restrictions, force majeure or other reasonably relevant circumstances, Lotgenootje and the dream recipient may agree a different period in writing.
12.4 The exact date, location and manner of carrying out the dream will be determined in consultation.
12.5 The selected participant and/or dream recipient must provide all reasonably necessary cooperation.
Article 13 – Film, photo and sound recordings
13.1 An important part of Lotgenootje Dreams is capturing and sharing the story and the realisation of the selected dream.
13.2 Cooperation with photo, video and sound recordings surrounding the preparation and carrying out of the dream is therefore a condition for the final realisation of the selected dream.
13.3 Before the dream is carried out, separate written agreements are made with the relevant persons about image rights, rights of use and processing of image and sound material.
13.4 Before the dream is carried out, the selected participant and dream recipient must sign Lotgenootje's separate media and consent declaration.
13.5 In this separate agreement, consent may be given, among other things, for use of the material produced via: Lotgenootje's website and webshops; organic social media channels; paid advertisements; email marketing; PR and press communication; online and offline marketing materials; Lotgenootje's presentations and brand communication.
13.6 Lotgenootje will derive no further rights from these promotion terms than the rights that are ultimately agreed separately in writing with the persons concerned.
13.7 If the dream recipient or another recognisably depicted person is a minor, additional consent requirements of their parent or legal representative apply.
13.8 Refusal of the cooperation or consent referred to in this article results solely in the lapse of the right to the realisation of the dream in accordance with Article 11 and never in any liability for damages on the part of the participant or dream recipient.
Article 14 – Personal data and privacy
14.1 Lotgenootje processes participants' personal data solely in accordance with applicable privacy legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation.
14.2 Personal data may be processed, among other things, for registering and checking participation, assessing the entry, communicating with the participant, selection by the jury, verifying the information submitted and organising and realising the dream.
14.3 Information about the dream recipient is processed solely to the extent necessary for the promotion and on an appropriate legal basis.
14.4 Participants are asked not to provide, in the first participation form, more sensitive personal data about the dream recipient than is necessary to enable the story to be assessed.
14.5 If sensitive information later proves necessary for carrying out the dream, Lotgenootje will, where necessary, request additional consent or information directly from the person concerned.
14.6 For more information about the processing of personal data, reference is made to Lotgenootje's privacy policy.
14.7 Special category personal data from entries that have not been selected will be deleted or anonymised no later than three months after the announcement. The jury scores and justification are retained, without the personal data from the entries, in accordance with Article 8.6.
Article 15 – Newsletter and marketing
15.1 During or around participation, participants may be given the opportunity to sign up for commercial communications from Lotgenootje.
15.2 If consent is required for sending such communications, this consent is requested separately and is not a condition for participation.
15.3 Consent given for commercial communications can be withdrawn at any time via the unsubscribe option provided for this purpose.
15.4 Withdrawal of consent for future commercial communications does not affect participation in Lotgenootje Dreams that has already been validly submitted.
Article 16 – Liability
16.1 Lotgenootje will make reasonable efforts to realise the selected dream carefully and safely.
16.2 Lotgenootje is not liable for damage arising as a result of participation in the promotion or the carrying out of the dream, to the extent that exclusion or limitation of liability is permitted by law.
16.3 The foregoing does not apply to damage resulting from intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of Lotgenootje or in other cases where liability may not be excluded by law.
16.4 Lotgenootje is not liable for failings of independent third parties involved in the carrying out of the dream, except to the extent that Lotgenootje is liable for them under mandatory law.
16.5 Lotgenootje is not responsible for technical failures as a result of which an entry is not received, is received late or is received incomplete, unless this can reasonably be attributed to Lotgenootje.
Article 17 – Force majeure
17.1 In the event of force majeure, Lotgenootje may change or postpone the carrying out of the dream or, if carrying it out proves permanently impossible, look for a suitable alternative.
17.2 Force majeure includes, among other things, circumstances beyond Lotgenootje's reasonable control, such as extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, war, government measures, travel restrictions, strikes, illness, cancellations by essential third parties and other comparable circumstances.
Article 18 – Amendment or termination of the promotion
18.1 Lotgenootje may amend, suspend or terminate this promotion early in the event of compelling circumstances.
18.2 Lotgenootje will make use of this only to the extent reasonably necessary.
18.3 Amendments will, where possible, be announced via the website or other appropriate communication channels.
18.4 Rights already acquired by participants will not be impaired without reasonable grounds.
18.5 The assessment criteria, the scoring rubric, the order of priority in the event of a tie and the method of selection (Article 9 and Appendix A) will not be amended after the start of the promotion period. If the promotion is terminated early, the entries that are valid up to that point will be assessed according to the same criteria, unless termination takes place before any valid entry has been received.
Article 19 – Complaints
19.1 Questions or complaints about this promotion can be sent to info@lotgenootje.com.
19.2 Lotgenootje aims to respond substantively to a complaint within 7 days.
19.3 Complaints about the procedure followed (including the validity check, the time limits and the application of Article 9) will be handled by Lotgenootje. In accordance with Article 8.7, no correspondence will be entered into about the content-based appraisal of entries by the jury. Participants may also contact the Dutch Advertising Code Foundation (Stichting Reclame Code).
Article 20 – Final provisions
20.1 Dutch law applies to Lotgenootje Dreams and these promotion terms.
20.2 If a provision of these terms proves to be wholly or partly invalid, void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in force.
20.3 Lotgenootje may replace an invalid provision with a valid provision that comes as close as possible to the purpose and intent of the original provision.
20.4 In cases not provided for by these terms, Lotgenootje decides with due regard to applicable legislation, reasonableness and fairness, on the understanding that even then no form of draw or chance is applied in the selection.
20.5 To the extent that mandatory consumer law of the country of residence of a participant from Belgium or Germany applies, the rights arising from it are not restricted by these terms.
Version: October 2026, established on [date] before the start of the promotion period. Appendix A forms an integral part of these terms.
Appendix A – Jury protocol and assessment framework Lotgenootje Dreams
This appendix forms part of the General Promotion Terms of Lotgenootje Dreams and was established before the start of the promotion period. It describes how the jury arrives at its assessment and how each criterion is scored.
A.1 Starting points
1. The selection is based solely on the content and quality of the entry, assessed on the basis of the five criteria of Article 9 and the rubric in A.4.
2. At no stage (validity check, preselection, assessment, tie, replacement selection) is use made of a draw, lottery, sampling, random order or any other form of chance.
3. The size or value of the order, the number of orders, public votes, likes, comments and shares play no role whatsoever.
4. Each jury member first assesses individually and independently; only then does jury deliberation take place.
A.2 Composition and independence of the jury
1. The jury consists of at least three persons and is appointed by Lotgenootje before 6 November 2026. Lotgenootje records the composition in writing.
2. Each jury member signs a declaration in advance that they have no personal interest in the entries, will respect confidentiality and will abstain from assessing entries from persons they know personally.
3. Jury members receive no remuneration that depends on the outcome and accept no gifts or contact from participants.
4. Lotgenootje appoints a secretary (not a jury member) who oversees the process, carries out the validity check and takes care of the record-keeping.
A.3 Procedure
Step 1 – Validity check (secretary). After the promotion period closes, the secretary checks each entry against Articles 3, 4 and 5: valid purchase within the promotion period, complete participation form, one entry per person, word limits, no excluded participant. Invalid entries are registered with the reason and not submitted to the jury.
Step 2 – Anonymisation. The secretary removes the participant's name, address, email address and order details and assigns a serial number to each valid entry. The entries are provided to the jury in order of receipt (not randomly).
Step 3 – Preselection (only if there are more than 200 valid entries, Article 9.11). At least two jury members independently score each entry on all five criteria using the rubric in A.4. The average preselection score determines which entries (at least the 25 highest) go to the full jury. In the event of a tied score at the cut-off, all entries with that score go through.
Step 4 – Individual assessment. Each jury member scores each entry submitted to them individually on each criterion (0–10 points) using the score form and notes a brief justification (one to three sentences) for each criterion. Scores are submitted before the jury deliberation begins.
Step 5 – Jury deliberation. The secretary calculates the average score per criterion and the total score (maximum 50) for each entry. The jury discusses the highest-scoring entries (at least the five highest) and determines the final assessment. A jury member may adjust their score after deliberation, provided the reason is recorded.
Step 6 – Tie. In the event of an equal total score, the entries concerned are reassessed (Article 9.8), followed by the order of priority of Article 9.10: criterion 1, then 2, then 4, then 3, then 5, and finally a majority vote on content-based grounds with written justification.
Step 7 – Record-keeping. The secretary draws up a jury report containing: date, jury members present, number of entries received and valid, the score forms, the ranking, the justification of the choice and the way in which any tie was resolved. All jury members sign the report. The report is kept for at least seven years (Article 8.6).
Step 8 – Verification and announcement. Lotgenootje verifies the selected entry in accordance with Articles 5.4, 10 and 11. If the selection lapses, the entry with the next highest final assessment becomes eligible (Article 11.3).
A.4 Scoring rubric per criterion
Each criterion is scored on a scale of 0 to 10. The descriptions below indicate which score corresponds to which quality. Intermediate scores are permitted; the description of the nearest band is decisive.
Criterion 1 – Personal meaning (max. 10 points)
| Score | Description |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | The dream is generic or interchangeable; the bond with the dream recipient does not emerge from the story. |
| 3–5 | The dream has meaning for the dream recipient, but that meaning is only to a limited extent substantiated or remains general. |
| 6–8 | The dream is clearly connected to the person, their life, history or situation; the motivation makes it plausible why precisely this dream for precisely this person. |
| 9–10 | The dream is inseparably connected to the dream recipient; the story convincingly shows that the dream has a deep, specific and personal meaning that would not apply to anyone else. |
Criterion 2 – Positive impact (max. 10 points)
| Score | Description |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | It has not been made plausible that realisation changes anything essential for the dream recipient. |
| 3–5 | Realisation is nice or valuable, but the impact is short-lived or only to a limited extent substantiated. |
| 6–8 | Realisation is expected to have a clear positive influence on the dream recipient's wellbeing, recovery, connection or outlook. |
| 9–10 | Realisation is expected to have a profound and lasting positive impact, possibly also on the dream recipient's immediate circle, and this is substantiated in concrete terms. |
Criterion 3 – Fit with Lotgenootje Dreams (max. 10 points)
| Score | Description |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | No recognisable relationship with support, connection or meaning during special or vulnerable moments. |
| 3–5 | Some fit with the mission, but the story is mainly about something else (for example, solely a luxury or consumer wish). |
| 6–8 | The story clearly fits the mission: it is about support or connection in a special or vulnerable period. |
| 9–10 | The story embodies the mission: it is about being together, comfort, support or connection at a moment that truly matters. |
Criterion 4 – Strength of the story (max. 10 points)
| Score | Description |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | The story is unclear, very brief or does not come across as sincere. |
| 3–5 | The story is understandable but not very distinctive; its persuasiveness is limited. |
| 6–8 | The story is sincere, clear and persuasively written; it makes clear to the reader why this dream matters. |
| 9–10 | The story is exceptionally sincere, distinctive and persuasive; it touches and stays with the reader. Language skill is not an end in itself here: a simple but authentic story can score the maximum. |
Criterion 5 – Feasibility (max. 10 points)
| Score | Description |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | The dream cannot be realised within €30,000, is not legally permitted, is unsafe or is entirely dependent on third parties who will not cooperate (Article 7). |
| 3–5 | Realisation is conceivable, but only with considerable adjustments, uncertainties or risks to budget, planning or safety. |
| 6–8 | The dream can be realised within budget and within six months with normal organisational effort; any dependencies are manageable. |
| 9–10 | The dream is concrete, can readily be realised within budget and time frame, and can be carried out safely and in consultation with the dream recipient. |
A.5 Score form (model)
Per jury member, per entry: entry serial number; score and justification for criteria 1 to 5; total score (0–50); date and signature or digital confirmation. The secretary combines the forms into the ranking.
A.6 What is not permitted
Draws, lotteries or random selection at any stage; sampling from the entries; selection on the basis of order of receipt as an independent criterion; public votes, likes or shares; weighting of the size or value of the order; amendment of criteria, rubric or order of priority after 6 November 2026; assessment by persons who do not belong to the jury appointed in advance.
